Privacy Policy
In short: your game library stays on your phone. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads of my own, and nothing is sold. The app only sends what it needs to look up games and play their videos, to back up your library to your own Google Drive if you turn that on, and to report crashes.
Libify Games is an app for keeping track of the games you play. It is made by Gabriel França, an independent developer in Brazil (“I”, “me”), who is responsible for your data under this policy. It covers the app on every platform and the Libify Games API it uses.
Your library stays on your device
- The games you add and everything you record about them — status, play dates, platform, time played, ratings and reviews — are stored only on your device. I have no access to them.
- Your settings, and whether you have bought Premium, are stored on your device too.
- Android’s automatic device backup is turned off for the app, so your library only leaves your device if you export a backup file or turn on cloud backup.
- Backup files you export are saved wherever you choose. Files you import are read only to restore your library.
Looking up games
- To search for games and show their details, the app asks the Libify Games API (api.libifygames.com) for them. Those requests contain the text you search for and the IDs of the games and lists you open — never your name, email address or library.
- Requests pass through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver them and to protect the service, for example by limiting how many searches a single address can make. The server’s own logs record which page was requested and how it answered, not your IP address, and are overwritten automatically.
- Cover art and screenshots are loaded straight from IGDB’s image servers (images.igdb.com), which see your IP address the way any website you open does. IGDB is owned by Twitch.
Game videos
- A game’s videos are YouTube videos. Their thumbnails are loaded from YouTube’s image servers (i.ytimg.com), which see your IP address the way any website you open does.
- Nothing plays until you press play. The video then plays in YouTube’s own embedded player, inside the app — Libify Games uses YouTube API Services for this. YouTube, which is owned by Google, receives what its player sends it, such as your IP address, details of your device and what you watch; it may store cookies or similar data on your device, and may show its own ads in the player. The app gets nothing back from it but whether the video could be played. How Google uses this data is set out in the Google Privacy Policy.
- A video YouTube won’t play inside the app, and any link you press in the player, opens in the YouTube app or website instead.
- By watching videos in Libify Games, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Cloud backup with Google Drive
Cloud backup is optional. If you turn it on:
- You sign in with Google, and the app asks for one permission: access to a hidden folder in your own Google Drive that only Libify Games can use. It cannot see any of your other files.
- The app reads your Google account’s email address only to show which account is connected. It is not sent to me.
- Your backups — a copy of your library — are stored in that hidden folder, in your Drive. I cannot access them.
- In the app, Cloud backup → More options → Delete account removes every backup from your Drive and revokes the app’s access to your Google account; you can also delete backups one at a time. Without the app, disconnect it at myaccount.google.com/connections, and delete everything it stored in your Drive from Google Drive’s settings, under Manage apps.
- Libify Games’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Purchases
Premium is sold through the store you installed the app from (Google Play or the App Store), which handles the payment. The app never sees your payment details. It asks the store whether your account owns Premium and keeps only a yes or no on your device.
Crash reports
When the app or the API runs into an error, a report is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, so that I can find and fix the bug. A report includes your device model, operating system and app version, and technical details about the error, such as the screens and requests that led to it. It may include your IP address. It does not include your name, email address or Google account.
What I don’t do
- No ads of my own — YouTube’s player may show YouTube’s, as above — and no analytics or tracking across apps and websites.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No accounts on my servers: there is nothing to sign up for.
Who else handles data
These services process data only to provide what is described above:
- Google — sign-in, Google Drive, Google Play and YouTube (privacy policy)
- Cloudflare — delivers and protects the API and this website (privacy policy)
- Hostinger — hosts the server that runs the API (privacy policy)
- Sentry — crash reports (privacy policy)
- IGDB, owned by Twitch — game images (privacy notice)
Some of them process data outside your country, including in the United States.
How long data is kept
- Your library: on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Cloud backups: in your Google Drive until you delete them.
- Server logs: overwritten automatically as new requests come in.
- Crash reports: deleted automatically at the end of Sentry’s retention period.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Under Brazil’s LGPD, the EU’s GDPR and similar laws, you can ask to access, correct, delete or take a copy of your data, object to how it is used, and withdraw consent. Most of this is already in your hands: your library is on your device, you can export it from the app, and you can delete your backups and disconnect Google at any time — step by step in Delete your data. For anything else, email me. You can also complain to your data protection authority — in Brazil, the ANPD.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
